Trustworthiness above all else
Integrity and reliability are our mantra. In providing only assessment and investigation services we are not conflicted like many other service providers who 'mark their own homework'.
We adhere to the very highest standards. As UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Assured Service Providers for Cyber Incident Response and Cyber Incident Exercising.
As an ISO 27001 and 9001 certified organisation, we extend security and quality into everything; just one example, our ransom negotiation specialists are among the very few formally trained and qualified negotiators offering services to the cyber insurance markets.
Our principle aim is to reduce the impact of cyber incidents and this even means to prevent them from occurring in the first place. Our proactive Assess and Plan service offerings are designed to help our clients to respond optimally.
Innovation, automation and cost reduction
Over the last decade we have built several proprietary tools to serve the our clients better.
We developed Cyber3: Rapid Risk Review, a portal that seamlessly connects clients and third parties (MSPs, supply chain vendors), in comprehensive risk assessment and remediation cycle. Our CyberSeven assessment platform for board-level executives helps our clients reveal, understand and remediate strategic issues directly linked to cyber risk exposure.
We have also developed a number of tools to make CIR more efficient and further improve the quality whilst reducing the cost of incidents. Our CyberProfiler: Attackers Eye View™ tool is a next-generation attack surface analyzer that helps to locate the initial point of compromise when an attack occurs, reducing exposure and investigation time and cost. Our CyberDiscover service uses advanced AI to significantly reduce the time and costs of data mining activities.
Experience matters
When it comes to cyber incident response, there is a clear difference between those specialists with decades of experience in the field and those with just a few years (or less).
STORM experts were the founders of the first UK digital forensics company in 1996 and were co-founders of one of the first CIR teams for the cyber insurance markets over a decade ago. We responded to our 1000th cyber incident in late September 23'. There are few CIR firms with either our breadth or depth on knowledge.
When it comes to digital and fraud investigations, unlike others, there is not much we haven't seen and we bring this experience and expertise to each and every one of our engagements. We look at the business as a whole, not purely technical, so can assess and triage business impacts that might become an issue if not dealt with immediately. An example is if finance servers have been hit, can the company make payroll.
Tech-led claims impact reduction
Our long experience both as immediate first-responders and on lawyer-led panels, shows that the extremely low risk* of not attaching legal privilege at the outset, does not compare with the high risk and real 'dollar loss' of a delayed technical response.
For example, where immediate technical first-response was able to prevent the ongoing spread of ransomware which an alternative (lawyer or loss-adjuster led) panel would have failed to prevent.
Secondly, the lawyer-led approach can also introduce higher costs whilst the loss-adjuster led option runs the risk of a poor quality response and unhappy client.
Our technical first-response manages the most prevalent risk in the most cost-effective way.
